North Carolina Plantation Home from 1823

Oakland Plantation | Halifax County North Carolina | c. 1823

Built for Henry Hill Thorne and his bride, Elizabeth Alston Williams Thorne, this is one of the very finest temple-form Federal houses in North Carolina and possibly this general region. It still has many of its original outbuildings.

This home was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
