Locals have fond memories of stopping here for cold sodas and candies regularly when it was still open.

A portion of this South Carolina home is believed to have been built in 1786 and added on to over time. It was also a busy stop for travelers along the Stagecoach Road. Back then, it sat at the center of a 1,200-acre rice plantation where hundreds were enslaved.
This home was originally built along the train tracks for the railroad engineer and his family. Today, it stands in a Florida ghost town.
This old church stands at a quiet rural crossroads in North Florida where it once served a community of farmers. And while its current condition is a sad one, I am happy to report that its congregation still meets nearby in a more modern building.
This sleepy crossroads in rural Georgia used to be an important town along well-traveled travel routes. But today, very little remains of the community.
The Laurens County Country Store was owned by my grandfather’s brother, Claude Mahon.Claude Mahon’s home was located behind the store. The Mahon Family Cemetery is located across the road and the homestead was located near the cemetery. The Mahon Family donated the land for Rabon Creek Baptist Church many many years ago. Descendants still live in the area.
